5/29/17 Idaho, Wyoming

Woke up and decided to wait out the Memorial Day and weekend warriors crowd before we head into Tetons/Yellowstone. Explored the Darby Canyon Wind Cave Trail in Targhee National Forest. Drove About 30 min through Idaho to get there but the hike itself was in Wyoming. Of note for future visits there is some great dispersed camping spots on the way back in.

Adds a whole new level of adventure and difficulty when the trail is snow covered. Was hard to follow the trail. We didn't get all the way to the wind cave but we could see it and got in about 3.25 miles of steep snow patch climbing. Would be a cool trail to do in the summer, although it seems to be pretty popular and well traveled.

Even though we didn't make it all the way up we made it pretty high and it still had some amazing views. The snow just started to get a little too deep and steep.

Relaxed by the campsite for a little this afternoon. I was laying out in the sun and sweating in shorts and a tank while Kyle was in the shade in a heavy jacket. That pretty much sums up the weather we have been having. It's hard to know how to dress each morning.

Planning to spend the evening doing laundry and walking around Jackson. Will stay at same campsot tonight.

  1. Loving the pics and stories! Wishing I would have thought of grizzly spray as a travel gift for you. They now are saying grizzly bells are called dinner bells. Did they interview a grizzly to change their recommendations? Regardless, jingling car keys has proven effective at not startling them....just say'en.

    1. Haha that's ok. Haven't seen any bear yet anyways. In this altitude and the Hikes we have been doing I'm sure they can hear me huffin and puffing

    1. So far so good! Her paws do good in snow. She's still finishing her prednisone though so we will see how it is after. Haven't gotten out her booties yet :)
