5/31/17 Grand Teton White Water Rafting

This was by far our favorite day thus far. Went white water rafting through the snake river at tetons with teton rafting company. Highly recommend the company, they were awesome!

We hit it perfect timing. They only opened about 3 days ago. Right now all the snow is melting so the water was really high which means better rapids. The water is higher this year already than its highest point last year. Supposed to be level 3 rapids but I don't know how the water level plays into that. We hit some awesome rapids.

The company also had a raft following us filled with guides in training. They had to flip the raft over then back again and climb on top for their training today. It was fun watching them. I appreciated our guide we had as the girls were not doing so well at it.

At one point there is an underwater waterfall and if you get sucked down under you don't come up for 3 hours. Our guide did not tell us that until after we passed it. We also got a semi pro kayaker who travels beside you anytime the water is this high to help if anyone falls in.

Our kayaker is a computer program teacher in Utah then comes here in the summer and lives in his van along the streets since housing is so expensive. Apparently that's the norm here and they are planning to build a parking lot for people like him.

Go pro camera footage wasn't great. Should've had a helmet mount but this company actually doesn't make you wear helmets. The good footage unfortunately mostly captured a lady who decided to sit on the front of the raft right in front of our camera.

The water was cold but tolerable with the wet suits. It was Kyle's first and my second time white water rafting. We had a blast and are ready to do it again.

This afternoon Kyle fixed the truck and then we went back into victor Idaho for malt and huckleberry milkshakes at emporium. Also highly recommend. We prefer victor over Jackson, it's a cool town and not nearly as expensive or crowded.

Staying at the same campground tonight. Will wake up early tomorrow and go through Yellowstone. We both agreed we have seen a lot of the Tetons with our extended stay here even though we weren't in the actual park much. We were still able to admire the mountains all week and avoided crowds. I love this area but am ready to keep exploring.
