6/13/17 Oregon
Oregon surprised me. When I think of Oregon I think of pine treee forests like we stayed in last night. About 30 min out from our campsites we were driving though desertous area and plateaus.
As we were driving through desert we looked to our right and saw Mount Hood. It's weird to see a giant snow capped mountain looming over the dry desert.
Drove to Crater lake national park. All but one road is closed still so it was extremely crowded but it is absolutely beautiful. It's one of those places that you can't get a bad picture of it because it's so stunning. Would've like to walk down to the water but it is still all closed from snow.
We drove into Siskiyou National Forest to find a campspot for the night. It was a narrow steep dirt road without really any good pull over spots and we immediately missed mount hood national forest. But we found a spot to pull over after a while. Isn't our favorite, but it was late and we just needed a level place to sleep.
See that is so beautiful seeing crater lake with snow!! Cool you guys are doing your loop that way
ReplyDeleteIt was awesome!! Thinking back, because of school timing the only thing we could've done differently is reverse our loop and hit the northern states last. But we still saw most of those parks except maybe Glacier which we hadn't planned on spending much time in anyway. At this point the parks we are hitting now we would've only hit them earlier if we had reversed the loop and then we'd feel rushed in Wyoming at the end of the trip. So it actually worked out well!
