We hit a cross roads this morning. Yosemite's main road is closed and it would take about 7 hours to drive out around from where we were this morning. Then only one section of Yosemite was open, the falls, and the website says to expect 3 hours of delay due to congestion.
No thank you.
We did get to see the backside of the park though as we drove by.
So we both agreed to bypass Yosemite, which would also mean bypassing Sequoia. I have been there before and Kyle said it's not worth it to him to drive an extra 8 hours to see big trees.
So we drove to Mammoth and explored the town today. Then we went on a short hike to Inyo Craters in Inyo national forest, where we are staying the night.
It had two little craters. The one beneath had a nice view of Mammoth Mountain in the background.
We explored around the rim of the craters for a bit then drove around and found the perfect campsite back in the forest for the night.
Tomorrow we are going snowboarding! It's weird to think about considering how hot it was today walking around town.
