6/4/17 Glacier National Park, Western Montana
Woke up this morning and headed into west Glacier. The going to the sun road is closed near Logans pass unfortunately. So we checked out Lake McDonald then drove out around to two medicine area.
Lake Mcdonald is huge although not nearly as green as our lake yesterday.
Saw some cool waterfalls along the road.
Drove into two medicine area. We didn't spend too much time in Glacier as the main road is closed and Maya's stomach is regretting a bone she ate so we didn't want to do a hike and leave her in the car for too long. We are trying to spend more time exploring areas where we haven't been much anyway.
Had to get some mountain berry ice cream at two medicine camp shop and sit on the deck in honor of my fellow Glacier backpackers from 2013.
On our way out we saw a grizzly cub! Didn't see a mama bear and the cub was too quick to get a pic of him.
Drove through western Montana to get to Idaho. We loved western Montana! Nothing but you, the road, and the forest.
We were going to look for a dispersed camping spot but it was starting to get dark. We ended up paying the $10 for a campspot along the river in Kootenai National Forest a couple miles from the Idaho border. It was a very spread out and empty campground so you had a big wooded area to yourself.
Right down a pathway from our campsot had a nice river and beautiful sunset.
Caleb will be so jealous of your huckleberry ice cream!!! Ok I am too. 😆 Looks beautiful!!! Shame you can't go through logans pass. Ahh would love to get out to glacier again!
