6/7/17 North Cascades, Mount Rainier
This morning we drove into North Cascades National Park. Neither of us have been here before.
The mountains driving in were huge and gorgeous.
And the view just kept getting better and better
Picture above is looking back on the highway we drove in on and shows the view we had.

Many of the hikes in this park are 2+ days long. Even though we didn't do any hiking in this park it may very well be both of our favorite park so far. The views were amazing. I would definitely love to backpack this park.
We drove by Mount Baker National Forest and through some beautiful mossy forests.
Then we drove towards Mount Rainier National Park. We were about two hours away when I heard a "woah", and I looked up to see why.
Terrible pic but from two hours away the beast just popped up and loomed over the town we were driving through.
When we got into the park we drove by some waterfalls/rivers with water as blue as Kool Aid and some awesome mossy covered forests.
Mount Rainier's was hard to photograph as no matter what angle you get from you can't seem to capture how massive it is. It is 14,411 ft tall.
We decided to camp in the park for convenience and we found a beautiful campsot at Cougar Rock Campground back in the mossy forests.
We saw a couple young bucks today. One of them strolled right through our campsot backyard.
The trees were huge and they were fun to climb around on and leap between. I told Kyle he looks like a vampire
And this is our werewolf
Thanks to my sisters for getting us the book on card games. We played a mad game of go fish last night. And yes I needed the book to prove to Kyle that I won because I had more piles, and just because his piles had higher cards doesn't mean he won.
You guys crack me up!! Glad the book is helpful! 😂 Def adding the Cascades to my backpack list! Looks beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteYes!! I'd love to do it!
DeleteCan I go? Can I go? You guys have to backpack the Cascades while I'm still young and spry enough to tag along. I'm so glad you saw Mt Rainier! I've been there twice and still haven't seen it (once our 2002 trip w/ you). Pouring rain prevented us from seeing it's beauty and beastliness. The Cascades lakes remind me of the Canadian Rockies. You two sure are finding some jewels!
