6/28-6/30 Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia
These days have mostly consisted of driving. We've been covering the southern states and started to veer North. We stopped at occasional different lakes for Maya to swim. The temperature has cooled down but it is 95%+ humidity so it is sticky.
We did stop at the Gulf of Mexico in Mississippi to swim a little. Looks like they were recently hit with some heavy rains so the beaches and water were pretty dirty.
We also ate at BB's in ocean springs Mississippi and had some traditional po-boy.
We've been staying at truck stops the past two nights as national forests and campgrounds are sparse along this route and we usually drive into the dark. We were going to stay at Tuskegee national forest in Alabama but it was a DUMP. It's out in the middle of nowhere but right beside a ghetto town and there was trash everywhere. We had to drive through town to get diesel and quickly realized we were not welcome in that territory. So we kept moving. Ended up at a pilot just inside the Georgia border.
Hmm your making the western states sound much more appealing then the southern states here! What happened to southern hospitality?
